When he measures the sound on the other side, there is a 2 inch hole in the wall near the sound meter. After replacing the wall material, no sound could be heard, wow, I guess we’ll just have to take your word for that.

To clarify, party wall is a double stud wall, definitely a good starting point. I demoed my side only. So end result is neighbor’s wall is 1 layer regular drywall, then rock wool insulation in their studs, then 3/4-inch gap, then rock wool insulation in my studs, then 545 THX for my wall. Funny — if I put my ear to the floor, I can sometimes hear faint noises coming through the concrete foundation. And noise in flanking walls noted below. But no sound when i put my ear against common wall 545.
I had a situation like this – adjacent townhomes with long common wall. I demoed gympsum drywall and all pink fiberglass insulation (worthless). Hung QuietRock 545 THX and insulated both sides of double-stud wall w/ Roxul rock wool insulation – best sound insulation. Result – AMAZING. Only mistake was not also replacing 3-4 feet of drywall on flanking walls. Only sound I hear is coming *around* the QuietRock wall through the adjoining flanking walls. Will soon hang QuietRock 530 on those walls.

It technically was done to both. But the one with the quiet rock was the best drywall. The other side probably had half inch drywall, ordinary.
So this construction was done only one side of the wall? whereas the noisy neighbor’s wall had no work done right?

People may say “why don’t you move?” but, since we lived here first, why the hell should we move ? They came here after we arrived, yet because we don’t drink or party, we are supposed to move? I am losing my mind, as is natural after almost 20 yrs of being hassled and woken night after night. I’m 41 years old, i probably look 60. I’m close to snapping and losing my temper. Anyone have any suggestions/ideas? (we are NOT moving out, that’s not an option)
I have lived in my current home for over 20years. Around 15 years ago, a new family moved in upstairs. Unfortunately, they are kinda pig-headed and rude and they seem to enjoy antagonizing us, due to us being of a different religion from them. Well, i say different, but the neighbours have no religion. I’ve done my best to ignore their provocative acts, but can also hear them using toilet, as peeing on the porcelain part of the bowl(not the water)seems to be beyond them. Someone help me, please.
Mike usually works as a general contractor, but usually bring in professionals/experts at what they do. Mike’s been working for a number of years, and he’s not a jack of all trades/master of none.

i have a question what is mike holmes qualified in ?? he talks for ever about un trained people doing jobs badly yet he does everything himself like he is a carpenter then he is a plumber what a hipacrit
