Developing a strong lower body is one the best ways to improve speed and agility training. Your legs are the engine that makes the whole body move. If you have weak legs you will be left in the dust by your competition. I think one of the reasons most athletes don’t like to train legs is the same reason most people in normal gyms across the world don’t like to either. The fact of the matter is that it is painful and a whole lot of mental work to push heavy weight. With said many athletes either don’t do them or come up with every excuse in the book why not to train their legs. One of the most effective ways I show athletes why leg training is important is to take one of my strongest and largest athletes and have them perform some speed and agility drills. More times than not one of my biggest and strongest athletes is also one of my fastest and agile athletes.
